Coding

27th Nov 2020

Our Using ICT focus this term has been 'Computational Thinking and Coding'. We have been lucky to be working in partnership with the Nerve Centre in Belfast to help develop our skills.

Each class have been very busy learning all the new language of coding.
For example they have been learning what an algorithm is,  using decomposition to break an algorithm down into steps as well as finding and fixing errors by debugging algorithms. Children created their own monsters and created algorithms for drawing monsters.

Children in Foundation Stage have been enjoying their unplugged UICT activities. They have been playing grid games with objects and story book characters and creating algorithms to get the Beebots to a specific square on their Storybook grid.

Year 6 linked their activities to their theme about Ancient Egyptians. They made Ancient Egyptian grids and created an algorithm to move around the board.
