St James's PTA

St James’s Primary School & Nursery Unit prides itself on having a very enthusiastic and energetic Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

 Come to a meeting

Have you got a child at our School, or are you a member of staff?  Then you are already a member of the PTA.  We are always looking for parents to come and be a part of our team.  Please speak to one of us, or a member of staff, who will put you in touch with one of the Committee.  Come along to our meetings, which are held each month in the staffroom.  Check the PTA notice-board (in the school foyer) for updates and scheduled meetings.

 Our Aim

The aim of the PTA is to foster strong relationships between staff and parents, engage in & support activities for the children of our school, and raise additional, necessary funding which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities.

How can you get involved? - Volunteer to help at an event

Any event that we host always requires lots of help.  If you can offer your time, skills or simply want to run a stall at our Fair, then we would love to hear from you.

 Where does your money go?

We have raised ££££s for equipment and resources to support our children in their learning.

In the past, funding from the PTA has assisted with many purchases.  Below are some of the purchases made on behalf of the PTA:-

  • Reading Books & Assistance with New Reading Scheme
  • Numeracy Resources
  • Grant application resulting in a £10,000 grant which funded our IT suite
  • Fridge for P1s
  • Halloween Parade Prizes
  • Dictionaries/Calculators
  • Rainsuits for Nursery Unit
  • Christmas Presents for all Nursery School children
  • Ruby Anniversary Entertainment Celebration for children in both PS & NS Unit
  • Student Council - Wet Play Box
  • Outdoor Playtime Equipment
  • New carpet for School Library
  • Assistance towards School Trips

In order to raise as much money as possible, we have organised a range of events, which are enjoyed by both pupils and parents, including:-

  • Table Quiz
  • Halloween/End of Year Disco
  • Easter & Christmas Ballot
  • Christmas Concert DVDs
  • Movie Nights
  • May Fair
  • Break The Rules
  • End of Year Disco

As ever, we welcome your feedback, so please feel free to submit any suggestions, questions or ideas to any member of the PTA.
