An Electrifying Visit in Year 2
29th Jan 2026
We had a terrific start to our Thursday in Year 2 when Riley’s dad Philip came in to tell us all about being an electrician. He taught us all about how electricity travels through cables like a car travels along a road. He let us hold different types of electric cables, sockets and switches. We looked at house plans with all the electric tracks coloured red. He taught us some very important messages about safety with electricity: Only adults should put plugs in sockets. Never put your finger in a socket. Electricity can ‘bite’ you.
Philip showed us his protective work clothes such as hobnail boots, masks, safety glasses, a helmet and a high visibility jacket. Phil very kindly gave us some items to keep and play with. Thank you so much Riley’s dad for sparking our interest and teaching us so much about this part of construction.
