This month we welcomed Orla McKeating from Still I Rise Storytelling to our school. Orla shared with us a range of inclusive children’s books that in turn sparked curiosity, conversation, and creativity. The sessions allowed the children to recognise and celebrate their differences, explore what it means to belong, and build understanding and empathy towards others. Children in nursery and the foundation stage explored the themes of friendship and kindness through stories and song. Children in KS1 and 2 took part in interactive workshops that explored identity, representation, and inclusion within our school and wider community. Orla was super impressed with the children’s participation and awareness and she complimented our whole school community for championing diversity and inclusion in all that we do.
