Soccer Superstars Representing St James’s!
Our Y7s (and some talented Y6 girls) had a brilliant time representing our school at the annual Aodhan Gillan memorial football competition at Edmund Rice College. We had a busy day with both our boys and girls teams seeing lots of action.
Our boys managed to escape a very tight group on goal difference after two very competitive fixtures, including a hard fought 1-0 victory. Unfortunately, a semifinal was as far as we could manage on the day but the boys put in some incredible performances.
Our girls team absolutely blitzed the competition in their group stage which saw them through to a very tough semifinal fixture. After a cagey 20 minutes, it came down to penalties. Both teams dispatched some brilliant strikes, but ultimately our girls were unlucky not to progress any further.
We all had a brilliant day with our students representing our school with great maturity and respect. We also loved debuting our amazing new kits, getting plenty of compliments! A big thanks to the staff at Edmund Rice College for organising another amazing event.
Thank you also to CeCe and Henry's dad, Mr Donavan Gallagher for sponsoring our new kit. This was the first time that the children got to wear the kit and they were delighted.
