St Brigid’s Crosses

10th Feb 2022

Year 4 had the opportunity to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day this year by making their own St. Brigid’s crosses. St. Brigid’s day is celebrated in Ireland on 1st February every year.  The crosses are traditionally believed to protect the homes where they are hung from fire.
We used both reeds which have been traditionally used in Ireland to create St. Brigid’s crosses for hundreds of years and paper straws to create smaller crosses.
