St James's and Whitehouse on Cool FM

27th Mar 2019

Today, Mrs Cunningham, Miss Morrow, Toby (Year 7) and Aoife (Year 3) travelled to the Cool FM studios to record an interview about all the fantastic opportunities we have had in collaborating with our friends in Whitehouse Primary School. We were also joined by David Price from CRIS who has been an integral part of our journey and has provided us with amazing support of which we are so thankful for. This was a great opportunity for us to celebrate all the great work that has taken place in our partnership. The children had a great day. Listen out for the podcast!

Toby (Year 7):

"Today a few children including me were at Cool FM radio station. We were there to talk about Shared Education which we do with Whitehouse Primary School. We left the school at approximately 10:20am and we arrived at around 11:05. Once there we met up with the Whitehouse group. The children from St James's were Aoife (P3) and me, Toby (P7) . The children from Whitehouse were Reid (P7) and Erin (P3). Once in the waiting room a girl called Sasha gave us goodie bags consisting of an air freshener, a USB port, a water bottle and a poncho. Once we were all ready Sasha took the P7s (Reid and Me) into a studio. By then I was really excited, we were being recorded, not live. Sasha then started to ask us some questions. The first question she asked was “What was your favourite part of Shared Education?” I answered Corrymeela, the residential that we went on two years ago. We each brought a parent and we stayed over for three days and two nights. She then asked the question "While you were playing did you think about Religion?" We answered no, we were still friends and nothing was ever going to change that. After the P3s and the teachers were interviewed we got a tour around the studio. We asked for a shout out from Paul Kennedy and he went on air, clapped twice and went off air! Then we got to meet Paulo from Cool FM mornings! Altogether it was a fantastic day! And we got to go to McDonalds for lunch!"

Aoife (Year 3):

"Today I went to Cool FM radio studio. I went with Miss Morrow, Mrs Cunningham and Toby. We met David from CRIS and Reid, Erin, Miss McIntosh and Miss Blain from Whitehouse. We got shown around the studio. I felt really excited on the way to the studio. We talked about Shared Education. I told Sasha all about making friends and how it is fun and easy. I love to meet up with my Whitehouse friends. I sang the moose song with Erin. It was sooooooooo much fun. We met Paulo and got our photo taken with him. We met the DJ Paul Kennedy and put on a song request for us all. It was a great day!"
