Year 2 Shared Education

5th Jun 2026

In March, our Year 2 pupils had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the Shared Education programme alongside children from Whitehouse Primary School. The programme was designed to promote friendship, build confidence, and inspire curiosity through a variety of engaging indoor and outdoor play experiences.

Throughout the programme, the children participated in a wide range of activities that encouraged interaction, teamwork, and communication. During PDMU sessions, they explored what it means to be unique, how to recognise and celebrate our differences, and how to develop new friendships.

A key focus of the programme was outdoor learning. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a variety of exciting, hands-on activities at both schools. These included an outdoor sound hunt, a scavenger hunt to identify signs of spring, and using natural objects to create addition number sentences, helping to develop their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills through play.

The final part of the programme involved joining with the Nursery for a shared picnic. This provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to act as positive role models for the younger pupils, while playing together, building relationships, and enjoying food in a relaxed and social setting.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm the children showed throughout these experiences, and it has been wonderful to see new friendships develop and grow. We look forward to participating in the Shared Education programme again next year!
