Year 7 'Crackers and Careers' with a Civil Engineer!
30th Apr 2025
As part of the school’s Crackers and Careers initiative, Year 7 had the fantastic opportunity to learn from Mike, a civil engineer who visited to share insights into his exciting profession.
While the children enjoyed a spread of crackers, cheese, grapes and juice, Mike introduced the them to the world of engineering, explaining how civil engineers design and construct vital infrastructure such as roads, bridges, dams, and airports - even using techniques like rock blasting!
The children learned about the key skills needed in engineering, especially problem-solving, and how learning from mistakes plays a big part in improving and succeeding - not just in engineering, but in life too.
We’re incredibly grateful to Mike for for his time, his generous and thoughtful stationery gifts, for inspiring the class, and showing them how creative, challenging and rewarding a career in engineering can be.
